Travel with us among the archeological sites: underwater archeology in Pozzuoli, Roman imperial villas and thermal baths in the Phlegrean Fields and in the isles, the underground remains of the Greek harbor of Naples, Herculaneum and Pompeii, Oplonti, Paestum and Velia, with breathtaking panoramas along the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Coast!
Meeting at the arrival terminal and transfer by C4Y accessible minivan to the hotel. Departure for the oldest part of the city, where the ancient Greco-Roman arteries crosses with a network of streets and alleyways (the famous cardini and decumani), where archeological remains lie under more recent Medieval religious complexes and are also often still visible at the ground level. On the way back we will stop in piazza Municipio where it is possible to admire the remains of the ancient roman harbour, after a recent archeological dig for the construction of the Metro. Return to hotel in the late afternoon.
After breakfast in hotel, meeting with participants, then transfer by C4Y accessible minivan to visit the North-West of Naples and see the still active twenty-four craters and volcanoes that form the Phlegraean Fields – whose name comes from a greek word meaning “burning”. This area was inhabited by the Greeks who founded the mythological Cuma Eubea and then by the Romans who made their ‘bonne retraite’ for tourism and wellness. From Lucrino to Cuma, passing through Pozzuoli and Baia, there are countless archaeological finds. Lunch at a restaurant at the seaside.
Breakfast in hotel. Meeting with participants, then transfer by C4Y accessible minivan to visit to Herculaneum. This town was covered by lava of the eruption of 79 AD and for this reason its buildings are better preserved than Pompeii ones. Stop for lunch in one of the many agritourisms in the area in order to taste products such as the wines Lacrima Cristi and Caprettone. In the afternoon the tour continues to Pompeii to visit the Faun’s House, the Centurian’s House, the Villa of Mysteries, the amphitheater, the Forum and so on. Time seems to be stopped, preserving entire, agonized, human outlines, houses, shops with the material from the eruption. That makes Pompeii a unique and unforgettable experience. Return to hotel in the late afternoon.
Breakfast in hotel. Meeting with participants, then transfer by C4Y accessible minivan to Paestum (Salerno Province), the ancient Posidonia. The city was dedicated to Poseidon, as well as to Era and Athena. This visit continues in Magna Grecia, to admire antique temples, the Necropolis and homes and shops. The adjoining museum will helps us to reconstruct the missing pieces of the puzzle. Packed lunch.
Breakfast in hotel. Meeting with participants, then transfer by C4Y accessible minivan tothe center of the city National Archaeological Museum – MANN that contains an immense patrimony. The archaeological findings date from prehistory to Middle Ages. The core of this wonderful heritage are the statues from the Farnese Collection, but also a lot of other remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum sites at the time of the first excavation. Transfer to the departure terminal. End of services.
